Client Spotlight - CAS Partners CEO, Toni Portmann

Spencer began working with CAS Partners in early 2007 and has become an integral part of their leadership team as they expand and grow the business. We sat down this month to learn more about their vibrant CEO, Toni Portmann. Toni brings strategic insight to the expansion of CAS Partners' integrated property and asset management services. She joined the company in October 2008, bringing more than 30 years of executive and management experience.

Toni previously served as CEO and president of Stream International, Inc., a global business-to-business software services provider. Under her direction, Stream grew from a $65M company to a $500M+ company with operations in 16 countries. Toni also served as vice president of sales and service for Diebold Incorporated where she directed one-third of the company's U.S. business; she also held a variety of executive and management roles over a 17-year career with IBM.

Tenant Retention - a Strategic Approach

The current economic climate makes it essential for property managers to know what their tenants want and to respond accordingly. It is time to be creative and open in our thinking. Everything that is reasonable must be considered. Properly identifying, hiring, and training the right staff people is the real beginning to effective tenant retention. You need people who take ownership in the property.

Retaining tenants is of paramount importance. Building owners expect their in-house management team to provide and maintain the programs and services that will keep tenants happy and encourage them to remain in the building.

Well, it's almost back to school time again. We've had a wonderful summer so far at Spencer Consulting. We developed corporate standards for CAS Partners while opening new regional offices for them in Lynnwood, Washington and Boca Raton, Florida. We provided consulting services to a new client, DEM and renewed three existing tenant leases for LandPlan Development Corp. On a personal level, Senior Associate Chaz Walker spent some time in Puerto Rico while I traveled to Mexico with my family to relax on the beach in Cabo.
