Spencer recently began an initiative to move one of its national clients towards a higher level of environmental responsibility. As a part of Spencer's corporate sustainability strategy, a survey was distributed to thirty-five client offices across the country in order to measure their current state of "green." The results of the initial survey were very positive, with every office showing signs of excitement and enthusiasm for the program as president of Spencer, Kathy Hansen, points out, "We have seen that initiatives like our corporate sustainability strategy not only achieve their primary function, but also serve as a real team building experience for associates across the country. It's a bonding together for the common good."
Becoming more green not only saves resources, money, and impacts the
environment less, but it can also augment branding and other company initiatives. Spencer and the client's marketing department worked together to
come up with standardized color schemes that incorporate low or no VOC paints and environmentally friendly carpets which will be integrated into each
office across the country. "The goal here is to create brand recognition and consistency throughout all their locations while providing an excellent
opportunity to incorporate green materials into every office," says Hansen. Over the course of the next few months, Spencer will begin implementing
additional processes that comprehensively increase CAS Partner's sustainability across the country by addressing recycling, energy conservation,
and reduction of paper and supplies used.
Highlights from the survey include ninety-four percent of CAS Partner's locations already incorporate policies to reduce
the amount of paper used in the office. Ninety percent maintain a recycling program of some kind, and more than half of all offices
already
implement energy conservation policies. "CAS obviously has a passion for this initiative," says senior associate Chaz Walker. "Many of the regional
offices have already developed programs on their own to become more socially responsible, and we want to build on that enthusiasm to take sustainability to a new height." For more information about Spencer's Green Initiatives, click here.
